You might think that if you make your partner feel special every day, cook better meals or make him (or her) less angry, then everything will be fine. Won’t leaving him be the same as giving up?
You wonder if you can persuade him to go to therapy or stop drinking or stop spending every second he can at work. But finally, after you’ve gone through every excuse to stay, one day you just do it. You make the break-up call. You pack your bags and go. You leave a note or you don’t.
